The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2025 brought together global industry leaders, investors, and policymakers for an engaging week of discussions and networking at the world’s largest mining conference and exhibition. This year, the Canada-Türkiye Business Council (CTBC) and the DEİK – Foreign Economic Relations Board coordinated a wide-ranging program for the more than 100 members of the Turkish delegation, fostering new connections and deepening bilateral collaboration between the two countries in the mining sector.

A Dynamic Start: Canadian Securities Exchange Visit

The week began with an insightful visit to the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE). The delegation gained valuable knowledge about Canada’s capital markets, investment opportunities, and regulatory frameworks. Richard Carleton, CEO of the CSE, warmly welcomed the group, followed by an informative presentation from Phillip Shum, Director of Listings Development. The visit culminated in a bell-ringing ceremony featuring Turkish Ambassador Can Dizdar and Mr. Carleton, symbolizing the growing business ties between Canada and Türkiye.

Corporate Presentation Forum

At PDAC 2025, the Turkish delegation made a strong presence through a dedicated pavilion, where they showcased Türkiye’s rich mining potential and investment opportunities. The Corporate Presentation Forum opened with remarks from Mike Ward, CEO of CTBC, who emphasized the importance of Türkiye as a key player in global mining investments. The session featured keynote presentations by Taha Meli Arvas, CEO and Vice-Chairman of the Board of EPİAŞ, and His Excellency Can Dizdar, Turkish Ambassador to Canada.

Engaging Discussions: Fireside Chat & Panel Discussion

The event also featured a fireside chat with Mehmet Yılmaz, CEO of DEİK, moderated by Rocco Rossi, Former President & CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. The discussion covered:

• Emerging investment opportunities in Türkiye’s mining sector
• Strengthening Canada-Türkiye strategic partnerships
• The role of sustainability and technology in shaping the industry’s future

A panel discussion, led by CTBC Director Nursel Atar, brought together industry leaders from First Quantum, Capella Minerals, and TÜMAD. Panelists Murat Güreçşi, Eric Roth, and Bilge Küçükaytan shared insights on sustainability, innovation, and successful investment strategies in Türkiye.

The week concluded with a series of networking opportunities and meaningful discussions that reinforced the commitment to strengthening Canada-Türkiye business relations.
